Ingredients

  • 1 cup takoyaki flour
  • 2 cups dashi broth
  • 1 large octopus, cooked and chopped
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • Tempura scraps (tenkasu)
  • Takoyaki sauce
  • Japanese mayonnaise
  • Bonito flakes (katsuobushi)
  • Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dashi broth in advance.
  2. In a bowl, mix the takoyaki flour with dashi until smooth.
  3. Preheat a takoyaki grill and grease each cavity well with oil.
  4. Pour the batter into the cavities, filling them halfway.
  5. Add the chopped octopus, green onions, and tenkasu.
  6. Cover with more batter until nearly full.
  7. Cook until the bottom is golden; then turn each ball using a skewer.
  8. Cook until all sides are crispy and golden brown.
  9. Serve hot, drizzled with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, and sprinkled with bonito flakes.
