Spaghetti with sausage meatballs and yellow tomato sauce is a beloved dish in Italian kitchens. Inspired by the traditional fried meatballs from Martina Franca, chef Cesare Battisti of Ratanà restaurant created this delightful recipe during an episode of the vodcast ‘Discorsi in Osteria.’

The secret to the deliciousness of this irresistible dish lies in the smooth and velvety sauce that embraces the pasta, while the small, golden meatballs made of pork add an extra punch of flavor!

Ingredients

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 300g sausage meat
  • 1 can (400g) yellow cherry tomatoes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the sausage meat with salt and pepper, and form into small meatballs.
  2. In a large pan, heat olive oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the yellow cherry tomatoes and cook for about 10 minutes until they break down into a sauce.
  4. In a separate pan, fry the meatballs until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Combine the meatballs with the tomato sauce, allowing to simmer together for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  7. Drain the spaghetti and mix it with the sauce and meatballs, serving hot with fresh basil on top.
