Ingredients

  • 500g black beans
  • 300g pork shoulder
  • 200g beef
  • 150g chorizo sausage
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Rice, for serving
  • Farofa, for serving
  • Orange slices, for garnish

Instructions

1. Begin by soaking the black beans in water overnight. This will help them cook evenly.

2. In a large pot, sauté onions and garlic until translucent. Add the pork shoulder, beef, and chorizo. Brown the meats on all sides.

3. Drain the black beans and add them to the pot along with bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Cover with water, bringing it to a simmer.

4. Let it simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, or until the beans and meats are tender. Stir occasionally, adding more water if necessary.

5. Once ready, serve the Feijoada hot with rice, sprinkle farofa on top, and garnish with orange slices for a refreshing contrast.
